Malaga: Andalucia Technology Park


The Parque Tecnológico de Andalucía was conceived as a technological nucleus to stimulate industry in the region. This complex is one of the most important economic centers in the south of Spain, hosting 538 companies and employing 14,695 workers. Most of the companies are focused on information technology, telecommunications, and research and development. They include some multinationals such as Oracle, Ericsson, Accenture and Huawei.
Since 1995, PTA is the world headquarters of the International Association of Science Parks (IASP). The following data shows the PTA importance:
The PTA’s contribution to the province of Malaga´s GDP is between 6.05% and 8.65%, whilst at an Andalucia-wide level it amountys around 1.21% and 1.71%.
In relation to the creation and maintenance of jobs, the PTA’s contribution to the province of Malaga population is between 7.04% and 10.05%, whilst at an Andalucia-wide level the park’s contribution sits at around 1.33% and 1.90% of all employment in Andalucia.
